Fiction
Moxy Maxwell Does Not Love Stuart Little by Peggy Gifford
Moxy has one more day before the start of fourth grade, just one more day in which to read the required summer reading. Now Moxy loves to read and often will stay up late into the night to finish a particularly good book. What Moxy does not like is being told to read a specific book. Every child will recognize a part of themselves in Moxy and her crazy excuses for not having read Stuart Little.
The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trent Lee Stewart
Four children answer local newspaper ads recruiting "gifted children looking for special opportunities", once they past all the required tests, (although they find they each did something entirely different to pass the same four tests), they become involved in saving the world. Kids who enjoy Lemony Snicket and J.K. Rowling will like this one.
Non-Fiction
The Gingerbread Cowboy by Janet Squires and illustrated by Holly Berry.
Cowboys and cowgirls will enjoy this Western version of an old tale. Giddyup, giddyup as fast as you can! You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Cowboy.
DVD’s
